Women's Hockey Repeats as National Champs!!!

Congrats to the Women's UW Hockey Team on their second consecutive NCAA Championship. Also to Sara Bauer as the Frozen Four's Most Outstanding Player. With 218 career points, a Patty Kazmaier trophy and two national championships under her belt, it was well deserved. Here is what she had to say about her time at Wisconsin, “It’s such a great environment here,” “It’s a great place to go to school; it’s a great place to play hockey.” Thank you Sara and thank you to the UW Women's Hockey Team for repeating as National Champions. GO BUCKY!!!

The highs and the lows of Badger Basketball

After watching the Badgers narrowly defeat Texas A&M-Corpus Cristie and then lose to the Running Rebels of the University of Nevada-Las Vegas I feel like I watched a minature rerun of the season. The Badgers built us up all year long with all these expectations and then the week they finally make it to a #1 ranking they lose 2 games in a row. Then we go to the Big Ten Tournament and again lose to Ohio St. The Badgers seem like they were on the edge to becoming a elite basketball team. Unfortunately, with the loss of Alando Tucker and Kammron Taylor I don't believe the Badgers will have the type of season next year as they did this year. I do hope though that Brian Butch has a great senoir year, he definately deserves it. While I am on the subject of Brian Butch, I believe his injury had more impact on the the entire team than was reported. After all he was the 3rd leading scorer for the Badgers after Tucker & Taylor. On that note good luck to the Men's Basketball team and the Grateful Red for next year. With Bo Ryan at the helm I am sure we will have a good shot at it again next year. GO BUCKY!!!!!!

Badgers receive #2 seed

Finally it is tournament time. The Wisconsin Badgers received a #2 bid in the NCAA tourney. The Badgers start off in Chicago. They play on Friday at approximately 2pm. They play Texas A & M - Corpus Christi. I am sorry to say this is a team I am not familiar with. I saw an interview on ESPN with Shelley Smith asking Bo Ryan how you prepare for a team that you have never heard of. Bo said with his usual confidence that they would have a DVD of their last game by Monday. I am thinking about going down to Chicago for the game. It would be cool to spend St. Patricks day in Chicago. I have never seen the river green. I was checking out tickets on a website. I might just have to pull the trigger on some sweet pickles for the game. Remember Badgers Fans to pack your green and your red. GO BUCKY!!!!!

Tucker Named Big 10 Player of the Year.

Congrats to Alando Tucker for being named Big 10 Player of the Year. “I’m extremely proud of Alando and all that he has done for the University of Wisconsin during his career,” UW head coach Bo Ryan said. “Being honored as the Big Ten player of the Year is the icing on the cake for what has been an outstanding five years. It is nice to see that his hard work has culminated in such a prestigious individual honor.”

Wisconsin Basketball on HBO

Congrats to The Wisconsin Men's Basketball team for being profiled on Real Sports. HBO's website describes the story as such: "The Path Less Traveled" "In a time of widespread scandals and violations associated with big-time collegiate athletic programs, the Wisconsin Badgers men's basketball team has become known for doing things right. Under the guidance of head coach Bo Ryan and driven by the on-court leadership of fifth-year senior Alando Tucker, the Badgers recently became the #1-ranked team in the country for the first time in school history, while making leadership in the classroom and community their top priority. REAL SPORTS correspondent Bernard Goldberg profiles this inspirational program." The story has great interviews with coach Bo Ryan and Alando Tucker. It also discusses the graduation rate at Wisconsin for basketball players is about 70% while at many other schools it is about 10%. Obvoiusly the other schools players are only playing basketball while they could care less whether they earn a degree.

Taylor Hits the Game Winner.

Congrats to Kammron Taylor on his game winning shot to beat Michigan St. That is exactly the type of momentum that I was talking about in my last few entries. If we can keep that kind of play on the court up it should be a very interesting Big Ten Tournament in Chicago this weekend.

Taylor & Tucker

Kammron Taylor & Alando Tucker need to display leadership for the rest of the Badger Basketball team when they play Michigan St. on Saturday at 11:00 am. We need to have a "Winning Attitude" to start the post-season. Currently, the Taylor & Tucker combo has the #2 highest scoring total of all time at Wisconsin. I hope they score a lot of points on Saturday to make a run at the all time total. GO BUCKY!!!!!!!
